Grades

Final grades are posted on the student's GullNet account. Students have access to GullNet for 6-12 months after they leave SU.
Students may view their grades and print a grade report by following the GullNet navigations below.
- Self Service > Enrollment > View my grades > Choose Semester > Printer Friendly
Students may access all grades by viewing their unofficial transcript using the GullNet navigations
- Self Service > Academic Records > View Unofficial Transcripts
Official transcripts showing all grades may be ordered online. These may be sent electronically or mailed depending on the option you choose. Please note that there is a fee for the official transcript option.

IMPORTANT: Grades cannot be released via phone. Please remember to keep your contact information current in GullNet should we need to contact you.

Grading Scale

Only courses completed at Salisbury University or through certain approved cooperative programs, and assigned grades of A, B, C, D and F, are used in the grade point average (GPA) calculations.
Quality points are assigned to letter grades such that A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1 and F=0. Quality points for individual courses are computed by multiplying the quality points assigned by an individual letter grade by the credit hours received for the course.
The cumulative GPA is calculated by dividing the total quality points earned (QPTS) for all semesters by the total applicable credit hours (QHRS).

Academic Clemency

Students who leave the University with a poor academic record may apply for academic clemency upon their return after not attending Salisbury University for at least five calendar years.

Students requesting academic clemency may petition to have the effects of up to 16 credit hours of D and/or F removed from the calculation of GPA.
The actual grades of D and/or F grades which were received will remain on the academic record beside the courses in which they were earned but will be noted as removed from the GPA calculation with an X.
When clemency is granted for D grades, the previously earned credits for those grades will be deleted from the student’s academic record.

Incomplete Grades

“I”/Incomplete – is a grade received because of non-completion of a course due to circumstances beyond the student’s control. Specific dates can be found on the Working Calendar.

For undergraduate level courses, the “I” automatically becomes an F if coursework is not completed prior to mid-semester of the next full semester for which the student is enrolled, or at the end of one calendar year, whichever is earlier.

For graduate level courses, the “I” automatically becomes an F if coursework is not completed by the end of the next full semester for which the student is enrolled, or at the end of one calendar year, whichever is earlier.

IP (In-Progress) - is a grade used for grading ongoing projects and independent studies; will be converted to letter grade upon completion.

Repeating Courses

Students repeating a course covering the same/similar content will receive credit for the last occurrence of the course only, provided the course is graded A, B, C, D, F, or I. Repeated coursework is noted as such on the student record, remains in the student’s attempted hour calculations, and is removed from the earned hour, quality point, and GPA calculations.

Exception: If a student receives an F grade in a course due to an Academic Misconduct Violation the course grade remains an F and cannot be replaced by repeating the course again.

Student Grievance Policy

Salisbury University has established the Student Academic Grievance Policy to give students a forum in which to address concerns related to academic matters (e.g., grade disputes and professional program dismissals when they do not involve an academic integrity violation).
