In the classroom, I seek to engage students in thinking historically. By working with primary and secondary sources, we don't just learn what happened in the past. Rather, we come to understand people and events of the past within their context, appreciate their complexity, perceive change and continuity across time, figure out what caused events, and see the role of chance (contingency) in creating the world in which we live.
