Bio
Dr. Jessica Kennett Clark is an Associate Professor in Biological Sciences at Salisbury University. With a background in neuroendocrinology, her research is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of diabetic peripheral neuropathy using larval zebrafish. Her lab has characterized two models of diabetic peripheral neuropathy and hope to elucidate the molecular pathways involved in the neurodegenerative aspects of this disorder. In addition, her lab is also currently exploring the effects of hyperglycemia on the gut and in the central nervous system. Recently, Dr. Clark鈥檚 excellence in undergraduate research mentoring was recognized with the 2019 Salisbury University Outstanding Research Mentor Award for her continued support of students both in her lab and across campus. Externally, she is a Co-PI on an NSF grant The AGEP Alliance State System Model to Transform the Hiring Practices and Career Success of Tenure Track Historically Underrepresented Minority Faculty in Biomedical Sciences.
