Assistive Technologies & Services

The 成人抖阴Libraries are proud to offer multiple technologies and services that make the Libraries accessible to those with disabilities.

The Guerrieri Academic Commons has been designed with accessibility in mind. All areas of the building are accessible to patrons with limited mobility, and all of the building’s entrances have ramps for wheelchair access. If you find that any areas of the building are not as accessible as they should be, please speak to a staff member at the Library Service Desk to let us know and to get assistance.

For those with visual impairments, we offer a number of services to allow you to use our resources. There is a TOPAZ Digital Magnifier available on the third floor (near the entrance to the HG-Z stacks). This digital magnifier can be used to enlarge and increase the contrast of books and other documents through a live video feed to the attached monitor (note it does not create digital scans of the content that can be saved to view later). Scanners with optical character regonization (OCR) technology are available for scannign to PDF or other formats on the first floor in each of the printing alcoves (near classrooms 117 and 162).

For those that need quiet spaces to work or study, the third floor stacks areas are designed quiet spaces. In addition, noise-canceling headphones are available for checkout from the Library Services Desk. See our Equipment & Devices page for more information about the checkout policies for these devices.

In addition, students, faculty, and staff can register with the Disability Resource Center to get access to our Accessibility Room. This is room AC 115, which is located in the corridor to the left as you enter from the Route 13 side of the building. The room provides a quiet place to study, as well as computers with JAWS, Kurzweil Reader, and ZoomText software. For more information about the software available or for assistance using it, please contact the DRC.

Access to the Accessibility Room is controlled by card swipe, so please be sure to register with the DRC before visiting the library.
