SU's Ozoke Named Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow

Dr. Vitus OzokeSALISBURY, MD---Dr. Vitus Ozoke of Salisbury University’s Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution (CADR) Department will travel to Nigeria this summer as a Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow.

Through the program, he will work with Dr. Emeka Ikezue of Nnamdi Azikiwe University to develop CADR curriculum for the Awka, Nigeria, institution’s School of Social Sciences.

“A major impact of this initiative is to produce well-trained graduates and practitioners in the growing field of conflict resolution,” said Ozoke.

Founded in 2013, the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program is designed to increase Africa’s intellectual opportunities, build capacity at host institutions, and develop long-term, mutually beneficial collaborations between universities in Africa and those in the U.S. and Canada.

Ozoke is one of 55 fellows for 2018. He is the second member of SU's faculty to receive the fellowship in three years, following Dr. Fulbert Namwamba of the Geography and Geosciences and Environmental Studies departments, who traveled to Kenya during his fellowship in 2016.

The initiative is funded by the Carnegie Corp. of New York and managed by the Institute of International Education in collaboration with U.S. international University-Africa in Nairobi, Kenya.
