成人抖阴Foundation Board Welcomes Four New Members

SALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury University Foundation, Inc., recently welcomed four new members to its board of directors.

They include Julius Jones Jr. ’06, ‘09 of Severn, MD; J. Michael Scarborough ’76 of Prince Frederick, MD; Mark Smith ’81 of New York; and Lou Taylor ’82 of Bishopville, MD.

A past president of the 成人抖阴Alumni Association, Jones is an executive officer for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). As an undergraduate, he was president of the Student Government Association and served as the University System of Maryland Board of Regents’ student council representative. He also was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society. Earning his B.S. in business, psychology in Spanish, and M.Ed. in higher education administration, he also served as SU’s government relations coordinator from 2008-2009.

A returning 成人抖阴Foundation board member, Scarborough is president and chief executive officer of Retirement Management Systems, Inc. and Oak Wealth Partners, Inc. At SU, he was a founding father of the Maryland Sigma chapter of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, as well as an inaugural member of the University’s football team and a letter-winning wrestler, inducted into the 成人抖阴Athletics Hall of Fame. In recognition of his generosity, including the lead gift to construct the SU’s Scarborough Leadership Center in 2001, he was named a member of the University’s Sea Gull Society. In addition to a B.S. in finance from SU, he also holds an M.B.A. from Baldwin Wallace University.

Smith is a managing director at the New York-based alternative asset management firm Medley Capital Corporation. With more than 20 years of institutional fundraising experience, he also has held positions at CIFC Asset Management, Citibank, Bankers Trust, the GreensLedge Group, SunAmerica and ING Capital Advisors. At SU, he was an all-region member of the men’s soccer team. In addition to earning his B.S. in finance at SU, he also holds an M.B.A. from the University of Baltimore.

Taylor is the superintendent of Worcester County Public Schools, where he has spent a career spanning more than three decades. He previously served as chairman of the Atlantic General Hospital Board of Trustees and is a board member for the Worcester County Educational Foundation, past chairman of the board for Hudson Health Services and a board member of the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, among other local affiliations. A member of the 成人抖阴baseball team as a student, he also is a past member of the University’s Maroon & Gold Club board of directors. He earned his B.S. in secondary education and M.Ed. from SU.

“We welcome these new directors to the Foundation board,” said Jason Curtin ’98, the organization’s executive director and 成人抖阴vice president of advancement and external affairs. “Each of them has unique expertise that will greatly enhance the efforts of the foundation in supporting the University.”

The Foundation also announced its 2020-22 slate of officers. They include Board Chair Michele Garigliano, Vice Chairs Steve Farrow and Dave Rommel, Secretary Ashley Stern and Treasurer Michele Thomas. Amy Miller will serve as Immediate Past Chair.

Guided by a 28-member board, the 成人抖阴Foundation was created in 1973 to accumulate funds by gift and investment to enhance the University. Since then, it has enriched the academic growth and physical expansion of 成人抖阴through the support of student scholarships, faculty research, new facilities and community outreach.
