SU's Reid Selected for National Fulbright Specialist Roster
SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Tina P. Reid, professor of nursing at Salisbury University, has been selected for a four-year term on the national Fulbright Specialist Roster, April 2021-25.
The Fulbright Specialist Program, part of the larger Fulbright Program, was established in 2001 by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It pairs highly qualified U.S. academics and professionals with host institutions abroad to share their expertise, strengthen institutional linkages, hone their skills, gain international experience, and learn about other cultures while building capacity at their overseas host institutions.
“It truly is an honor to be a part of the Fulbright Specialist Program,” said Reid. “It gives me an opportunity to share my skills, experiences, knowledge and expertise with others while gaining a deeper understanding of diverse cultures”.
Specialists, who represent a wide range of professional and academic disciplines, are competitively selected to join the Fulbright Specialist Roster based on their knowledge, skill sets, and ability to make a significant contribution to projects overseas. Those approved to join the Fulbright Specialist Roster are eligible to be matched with approved projects designed by foreign host institutions from over 150 countries and other areas. Once abroad, they partner with their host institution to conduct project activities in support of its priorities and goals.
“Host institution benefits would include sharing my knowledge and expertise as an academician/professional, strengthening institutional linkages and relationships, building capacity at various institutions, gaining global perspectives from a U.S. experienced educator, developing collaborative projects, and more,” said Reid.
“I would then be able to share international experiences, other cultures, nursing knowledge from a new perspective, promote beneficial linkages between American and foreign host institutions, enhance viewpoints and provide an opportunity to network and collaborate with international partners so that 成人抖阴benefits as well.”
Reid is a co-founder of SU’s health humanities minor, Women’s Forum and Women in Leadership organization. She serves as a faculty co-advisor for the Student Nurses Association and is a member of the Health Humanities Faculty Learning Community.
She also is co-director of the Eastern Shore Faculty Academy and Mentorship Initiative and the Eastern Shore-Western Shore Faculty Initiative for nursing and is a member of the Coastal Hospice and Palliative Care board of directors.
