SU's 'Writers on the Shore' Series Fall Guests Announced

Creative Writing FestivalSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s fall Writers on the Shore series begins with its annual Creative Writing Festival 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, in Perdue Hall Auditorium.

The event features readings from students in the Creative Writing Program, celebrating the new academic year. 

Additional presentations in the series are 8 p.m. on select Wednesdays in the Worcester Room of the Commons.

Upcoming authors include:

  • October 5 - Michelle Ross: Ross is the author of three story collections: There's So Much They Haven't Told You, winner of the 2016 Moon City Short Fiction Award; Shapeshifting, winner of the 2020 Stillhouse Press Short Fiction Award; and They Kept Running, winner of the 2021 Katherine Anne Porter Prize in Short Fiction. 
  • October 26 - Catherine Pierce: Pierce is the Poet Laureate of Mississippi and the author of four books of poems, most recently Danger Days. Her work has appeared in The Best American Poetry, The New York Times, American Poetry Review, The Nation and elsewhere.
  • November 16 - Joanna Eleftheriou: Eleftheriou is author of the essay collection This Way Back. Her poems and essays appear in Bellingham Review, Arts and Letters and Sweeter Voices Still: An LGBTQ Anthology from Middle America. She has studied at Cornell University, Old Dominion University and the University of Missouri, where she earned a doctorate in creative writing.

Admission is free and the public is invited.
