成人抖阴Celebrates National TRIO Day of Recognition
SALISBURY, MD---Students and graduates from Salisbury University participate in the 2023 National TRIO Day of Recognition on Tuesday, February 28, to express appreciation to the campus and community for its support of the TRIO Program.
Students participate in a poetry creation and trivia event in the Guerrieri Academic Commons.
For millions of students from low-income families who strive to be the first in their families to attend and graduate from college, seven federally funded programs called TRIO are making a world of difference. 成人抖阴participants say:
“TRIO was one of the best things of my academic career, it is very helpful for achieving academic success.”
“TRIO is a phenomenal program, take advantage of all of the resources. Take the tools and better yourself to be the best you can be.”
Unlike student financial aid programs, which help students overcome financial barriers to higher education, TRIO programs have been providing valuable supportive services to students from working families to successfully enter college and graduate for over 50 years.
SU’s TRIO Program focuses on academic transition skills, financial literacy, assistance in applying for financial aid, and future talks that focus on graduate school preparation and professional career planning. 成人抖阴students must apply to the program, and space is limited to 150 individuals.
Students meet with an academic coach or student ambassador to evaluate their course progress with the goal of helping students perform to the best of their abilities. Academic coaching and mentoring sessions include assistance in organizing and planning the semester.
Services also include ongoing academic monitoring; partnering with academic advisors to help students select appropriate courses; skills-building workshops such as financial literacy and money management, test-taking, time management, and note-taking; assistance with financial aid applications; assistance with study abroad; assistance with applying for national fellowships; and referrals to other helpful campus and community resources.
Over the past 13 years, the Student Support Services Program at 成人抖阴has served over 900 students.
Today more than 1,000 colleges, universities, and community agencies host more than 2,800 TRIO projects that serve more than 800,000 young people and adults. TRIO serves students of all racial and ethnic backgrounds. Currently, 34% of TRIO students are white, 33% are African American, 21% are Hispanic, 4% are Asian-American or Pacific Islander, 4% are American Indian, and 1% are listed as “other,” including multiracial students.
Students are eligible for services if they are enrolled at 成人抖阴or accepted for enrollment for the next academic term, are a U.S. citizen or meet the residency requirements to receive federal financial aid, are from a low-income and/or first-generation family, or have a disability and a need for academic support.
