成人抖阴Earns 'Research Colleges and Universities' Carnegie Classification

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University is not just a place where students learn. It’s also a facility where faculty and students research important topics spanning from science and education to business and liberal arts.
The Carnegie Foundation and the American Council on Education (ACE) has recognized the hard work of 成人抖阴faculty and students in these endeavors, announcing a “Research Colleges and Universities” classification for SU.
“I am so proud of the research our faculty and students undertake to advance their fields of study,” said 成人抖阴President Carolyn Ringer Lepre. “This new classification not only highlights their dedication to scholarship and efforts to seek out support for this important work, but also underscores SU’s continued commitment to providing research opportunities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.”
“The research our faculty and students conduct serves not only to provide new information in a wide variety of disciplines, but to ensure that our students have the analytical and data collection skills needed to succeed after graduation,” said Dr. Laurie Couch, 成人抖阴provost and senior vice president of academic affairs. “Our faculty are doing work that will answer important questions and address key challenges facing our society. As they involve our students in their research, they also are providing them an opportunity to do work that matters to the world and prepares themselves for their future careers.”
成人抖阴has been longtime a supporter of undergraduate research, holding an annual student research conference with hundreds of students, and three times hosting the National Conference on Undergraduate Research conference.
Institutions receiving the Research Colleges and Universities classification spend upward of $2.5 million annually on research and development.
In fiscal 2023, the year for which data was used to determine the new classification, 成人抖阴spend more than $14.5 million on research — most from grants and sponsored research — and conferred five research doctorates. The new designation may position the University more positively for additional grant funding in the future.
Carnegie classifications help provide a better understanding of the diversity of higher education institutions in the U.S. by providing a system to categorize colleges and universities based on factors including research activity, program offerings, degree types awarded and student demographics.
In addition to its new Research Colleges and Universities classification, 成人抖阴also holds a Community Engagement classification from the Carnegie Foundation and ACE.
