Arts Scene Brings the Arts Alive on Delmarva

SALISBURY, MD---The arts are alive on Access 26 this fall, thanks in part to Dr. Frances Kendall, a professor with Salisbury University’s Communication and Theatre Arts Department.

While on sabbatical last spring, Kendall collaborated with local artists Angela Herbert-Hodges, Diane Heron and Robert Heron and received input from the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council’s Davina Grace-Hill, Ginie Lynch and Jefferson Boyer to found Arts Scene, a half-hour magazine-style program focusing on the arts in Delmarva.

Each show consists of three segments focusing on Delmarva artists鈥攑ainters, sculptors, musicians, photographers, graphic artists, glassblowers, filmmakers, architects, dancers, actors and artisans. Most segments are shot on location in the artist’s studio or surroundings.

While Kendall paid production costs relating to tapes and set decoration, 成人抖阴provided use of camera equipment, studio facilities and editing suites. In return, students in SU’s Independent Television and TV Practicum classes were brought on staff for the show, receiving hands-on experience in TV production.

Other staff included videographers Dr. Haven Simmons of SU’s Communication and Theatre Arts Department and Mark Ford of ArtForm Construction. Cynthia Cornish, Ray Fantini and Mike Camillo of SU’s Television Services Office provided technical assistance.

The 10th and final episode of Arts Scene is being produced this month, with a highlights special scheduled to air next year. In the future, the core production team hopes to produce occasional features on individual artists.
