Delmarva Public Radio Presents 'Because I Said So' Parenting Program

Because I said soSALISBURY, MD---Parenting isn’t always easy — but it certainly can be entertaining!

The hosts of Because I Said So, a new show airing 2 p.m. Saturdays on Delmarva Public Radio’s (DPR’s) 90.7 WSDL-FM, hope to touch on both the pitfalls and joys of motherhood in their weekly on-air conversations. Each episode mothers Cathy Bassett, Kim Hudson, Jackie Lanza Jennings and Jenni Pastusak discuss the challenges — and rewards — of raising children.

They bring with them impressive careers in media. Bassett, a mother of two, is a past Daily Times reporter and former communications and district director for retired Congressman Wayne T. Gilchrest. Hudson, who works part time in SU’s Perdue School, also has two children and writes the Daily Times’ weekly parenting column.

Jennings and Pastusak are both former WBOC-TV on-air personalities who, like Bassett, now work in public relations and corporate communications. Jennings has two children and two grown stepchildren. Pastusak, who also worked on the Fox News Channel’s Fox and Friends program, is a mother of two.

Joining them, on occasion, with a father’s perspective is the show’s producer, Chris Ranck, who has one son.

“In creating this show, we wanted to bring something of value to one of our most coveted groups of listeners: parents doing the morning and afternoon shuffle, kids in tow, while listening to NPR and Delmarva Public Radio,” said Mike Dunn, DPR general manager. “These four moms, along with our producer Chris, have taken a concept we’ve created and made it a great addition to our WSDL talk lineup.”

Because I Said So is rebroadcast each Sunday evening on 89.5 WSCL-FM and may be accessed on demand from the show’s Web site, .
