Guitarist Lars Helgert Performs November 20
SALISBURY, MD---Educator, scholar and musician Lars Helgert performs a classical guitar recital 7 p.m. Monday, November 20, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.
The program features Sonata in C minor by Tommaso Giordani, Petit Concerto in E minor by Ferdinando Carulli and Terzo Concerto in F major by Mauro Giuliani.
A member of Salisbury University’s Department of Music since 2001, Helgert teaches classical guitar, guitar ensemble and music theory courses at the University.
An active musician, Helgert performs some 50 times a year in the Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia region. He has performed several recitals at the University and appeared as a soloist with the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed for some of the world’s top guitarists, in master classes with Sharon Isbin, Roland Dyens, Jad Azkhoul and Stephen Marchionda.
Helgert earned his Bachelor of Music in classical guitar performance from George Washington University. He earned his Master of Music from Catholic University, where he is currently pursuing a doctorate in musicology with a major in music history and a minor in music theory.
