Juilliard Series Features Cellis YuJeong Lee Oct. 24

SALISBURY, MD--Juilliard Cellist YuJeong Lee performs Wednesday, October 24, at 7 p.m. in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall at Salisbury University.  The first of this fall’s Juilliard Music Series, the concert is free and the public is cordially invited.

Twenty-year old Lee is quickly gaining attention as an emerging artist of exceptional artistry, intelligence and sensitivity, said June Krell-Selgado, 成人抖阴cultural affairs coordinator.  Having studied with eminent cellists Myung-Wha Chung, Joel Krosnick and Phillippe Muller, Lee has received prizes and honorable mentions in numerous competitions, including the Tchaikovsky International Competition for Young Musicians, Korea’s Joong-Ang Music Competition and Korea Music Competitions and the St. Louis Symphony Young Artists String Competition among others.

Starting the cello at the age of nine, Lee gave her debut recital in Seoul, Korea, at Sejong Hall at the age of 13.  She has also appeared in recital at the Kumho Gallery in Seoul, the Astoria Series in Brussels, Juilliard’s Paul Recital Hall and the Harvard Club of New York.

At 14, Lee was the youngest to enroll in the Brussels Royal Conservatoire where she received the highest mark of recognition, the Premier Prix, within a year.

The following year she studied at the Paris Conservatoire, after which she went to the Juilliard School, where she is currently completing a professional studies program.

The Juilliard Music Series is sponsored by the 成人抖阴Office of Cultural Affairs and Museum Programs. For information on Lee’s performance please call 410-543-6271, or visit the 成人抖阴Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
