SOREA Performs Music of Korea at 成人抖阴Wednesday, September 28

SOREASALISBURY, MD---The cultural music of Korea receives a modern makeover, courtesy of the SOREA traditional Korean song and dance troupe.

The ensemble performs 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, in Holloway Hall Auditorium as part of Salisbury University’s “Fusion” cultural events series.

SOREA’s name is a combination of the phrases “symbol of Korea,” “sound of Korea” and “show of Korea.” The group performs new arrangements of its country’s traditional melodies in an attempt to globalize and popularize Korean art.

U.S. audiences may be familiar with SOREA’s work “Restart the Show,” which was used as the theme for the 13-episode PBS documentary Kimchi Chronicles. Its musicians have studied music at Seoul National University, the Korea National University of Arts and Ewha Women’s University, among others.

An honorary ambassador of the Korea Ministry of Health and Welfare, SOREA has won many of its nation’s top awards. In 2006, its self-titled debut recording was named Album of the Year by the Korea Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The troupe has performed worldwide at events including London’s Thames Festival and the Germany World Cup Concert Tour.

SOREA’s 成人抖阴appearance is sponsored by the Office of Cultural Affairs and World Artists Experiences, Inc., in partnership with the Korean Cultural American Foundation and the Embassy of Korea.

Admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6271 or visit the 成人抖阴Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
