成人抖阴Celebrates Homecoming Weekend October 11-14
SALISBURY, MD---From a student-led block party to special dinners and reunions, Salisbury University’s 2012 Homecoming Weekend is packed with excitement.
Events begin Thursday, October 11, with the annual faculty emeriti and retired staff luncheon from noon-2 p.m. in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center. (Admission to the luncheon is by invitation only.)
Events continue Friday, October 12, with a Varsity Club-sponsored golf tournament at 10 a.m. at Nutters Crossing Golf Course. Entry fee is $65 per player, $240 per team. Pre-registration is required.
The Residence Hall Association’s annual powderpuff football game is 3:30 p.m. that day on the Holloway Hall Lawn. A Pirates of the Chesapeake dinner with music by Slim DeNunn and the High Rollers is 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the Commons. Cost is $11.09, $6.73 for children ages 5 and under.
The 成人抖阴Athletics Hall of Fame inducts three new members during its annual banquet at 6 p.m. in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center. They are: Erik Miller (’95 men’s lacrosse), Lisa Neylan Vuolo (’01 women’s basketball) and Michael Svehla (’02 men’s soccer). Admission is $30, $25 for past inductees. Pre-registration is required.
Saturday events begin with a variety of open houses, including Alumni (9 a.m.-2 p.m., Alumni House), Admissions (10 a.m.-noon, Admissions House), Geography and Geosciences (10 a.m.-noon, Henson Science Hall Room 159), Biological Sciences (10 a.m.-noon, Henson Science Hall Room 243) and the Perdue School of Business (10 a.m.-noon, Perdue Hall).
A block party sponsored by the Student Government Association, with inflatables provided by the Student Organization for Activity Planning, is 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Intramural Fields.
The Sea Gulls host Hartwick College (NY) during this year’s Homecoming football game at 1 p.m. Admission is $5, $3 for non-成人抖阴students, $2 for children 12 and under. 成人抖阴ID holders receive one ticket free. The 成人抖阴Pep Band plays during the game.
The Alumni Pre-Game Barbecue begins at 11 a.m. Children’s games, including activities provided by the Newton Marasco Foundation’s Green Earth Book Award (celebrating environmental stewardship in literature for children and young adults), are scheduled. A reunion for the classes of 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997 and 2002 is held during the barbecue. Tickets are $15 each, $5 for children, and include barbecue with two sides, two beverages and admission to the game. Advance reservations are preferred, but walkups are welcome.
The Untouchables Dance Club, 成人抖阴Poms and African Student Association’s Ca Va Chauffeur perform in Henson Science Hall Plaza at 4:30 p.m. as sports fans make their way back to main campus from the football game. The Multicultural Student Services Office hosts a post-game alumni jazz social in the Gull’s Nest of the Guerrieri University Center from 4:30-7 p.m., featuring 2am Music.
A luncheon for alumni graduating prior to 1968 is 11 a.m. in the Worcester Room of the Commons. The class of 1962 is honored on its 50th anniversary. Admission is $15, free for Class of ’62 members, and pre-registration is required. The classes of 1932, 1937, 1942, 1947, 1952, 1957 and 1967 will be recognized, as well.
University Dining Services sponsors an All-American Dinner from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the Commons. Admission is $11.09, $6.73 for children ages 5 and under.

• 5-8 p.m. – Lambda Society Rainbow Reunion, Bellavance Honors Center (pre-registration required, $15, $7.50 children 12 and under)

Other events taking place during Homecoming include the Bobbi Biron Theatre Program’s production of The Sin That Kills, written and directed by Dr. T. Paul Pfeiffer, at 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the Black Box Theatre of Fulton Hall. Set in Scotland in the early 1590s, the historical drama is based on actual court records from the North Berwick witch trials. Admission is $15, $12 for seniors and alumni. University Galleries exhibits featured during Homecoming include “Daily Practice,” featuring works from Chicago’s Plural Design in the University Gallery of Fulton Hall, “Drone: Three Laws,” featuring illustrations and animations by 成人抖阴new media professor Preston Poe in the Atrium Gallery of the Guerrieri University Center, and “Sonic Space,” a new media installation by artist Pete Froslie in the Electronic Gallery, Teacher Education and Technology Center (TETC) Room 128. All are open from noon-5 p.m. Saturday.
Also on Saturday, SU’s 2012-13 Adventures in Ideas Humanities Series begins with “Delighting in Dickens,” presented by Dr. Lucy Morrison of the English Department to celebrate the 200th anniversary of author Charles Dickens’ birth year. The seminar is 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in TETC Room 179. Admission is $30, including coffee, snacks and lunch, and pre-registration is required. The Cultural Affairs Office presents a concert by the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band’s Rhythm in Blue Jazz Ensemble at 7 p.m. in Holloway Hall Auditorium. Admission is free, but tickets are required, available in advance at the Guerrieri University Center Information Desk (limit: four per person).
Blackwell Library holds its annual book sale throughout Homecoming Weekend. The 成人抖阴Bookstore also is open for Sea Gull shopping. In addition, Adrenaline High hosts a series of “Discover Delmarva” kayak trips during the weekend. Excursions leave from the Guerrieri University Center parking lot.
