Caracalla Dance TheatreSALISBURY, MD---Want to “travel abroad” to experience the people and artistic treasures of the Middle East, without ever leaving the United States?

Salisbury University hosts a bus trip to Washington, D.C. for an Arab Cultural Immersion Day on Saturday, February 28. The trip begins with a tour of one of the following embassies: Qatar, Syria or Jordan, followed by a traditional Arab meal at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia.

The journey continues at the Kennedy Center with “Arabesque:  Arts of the Arab World,” an international festival showcasing the varied cultures of 22 Arab nations.  Exhibitions feature photography, poetry, calligraphy, cuisine, jewelry, fashions and a marketplace.

Participants will also hear a concert by Nawal, a Muslim-born acoustic singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known as “The Voice” of Comoros Islands.  Later that evening, they will see Lebanon’s Caracalla Dance Theatre perform “Knights of the Moon,” a theatrical extravaganza of jealousy, hidden identities and love with an original musical score and innovative choreography, not expected to be seen again in the U.S. for another 60 years.
