Salisbury Symphony Orchestra Concludes 'Holiday Travels' Music Festival December 9

SSOSALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury Symphony Orchestra at Salisbury University (SSO) wishes its audience a “Joyeux Noel!” during its annual Holiday Concert featuring harpist Jacqueline Pollauf on Saturday, December 9.
    
Directed by Dr. Jeffrey Schoyen, the performance is 7:30 p.m. in Holloway Hall Auditorium. It is the culminating event in SU’s annual Winter Music Festival, “Holiday Travels.”Dr. Jeffrey Schoyen
    
Poullauf joins the SSO on Boieldieu’s Harp Concerto in C Major. She recently premiered a new work for harp and voice at New York’s Carnegie Hall, and has performed at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and at the 11th World Harp Congress in Vancouver, Canada.

With degrees from Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute, she is on faculty at the Baltimore School for the Arts and University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She also is director of the Baltimore Harp Camp. Her recordings include Music from Three Continents with the Scottish Voices ensemble and a solo album, Bouquet.

Other featured selections at the SSO concert include Bizet’s L’Arlésienne Suite No. 1, Waldteufel’s “Les Patineurs Valse” (“The Ice Skater’s Waltz”), Op. 183 and Hector Berlioz’s “Le Carnaval Romain” (“Roman Carnival Overture”), Op. 9. Holiday favorites this year will include Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride,” as well as a non-traditional version of the song by Frederick Delius.

Admission is $25, $20 for seniors age 60 and older, $10 for 成人抖阴faculty and staff, and $5 for students and children 18 and under. Advance tickets are available online at www.SalisburySymphonyOrchestra.org and at the Guerrieri Student Union Information Desk.
