Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Lower Shore

8:30 a.m.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for snow for the lower Eastern Shore from 1 p.m. this afternoon to 7 a.m. Wednesday, January 12.  The winter storm watch is no longer in effect.  

According to NWS, snow is expected to start early this afternoon.  It may mix with sleet at times through this evening.  An accumulation of 1-4 inches is expected. 

NWS warns that periods of snow may cause travel difficulties.  Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.  Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to use caution.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter storm watch for Wicomico County and surrounding areas from Tuesday afternoon, January 11-Wednesday morning, January 12. A winter storm watch indicates a potential for heavy snow and/or ice.

According to NWS, snow may begin falling as early as 4 p.m. today, with little or no accumulation and is expected to continue through Tuesday, possibly mixed with sleet, into early Wednesday morning. A total of 2-5 inches is forecast.

NWS warns of slick roadways, especially on bridges and overpasses. Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to use caution.
