Calument Institute Host Photography Workshops June 6, 7 & 9
SALISBURY, MD--The Master Photography Workshops sponsored by the Calumet Institute at Salisbury State University hosts lectures in June by renowned photographers Eddie Soloway, Mary Panzer, Bobbi Lane and Rod Dresser. All lectures are free and open to the public.
Soloway, who has been exploring the Earth's wilderness for the last 30 years, discusses Passion of Photography on Sunday, June 6, at 7:30 p.m. in SSU's Fulton Hall Room 111. Having taught workshops for the Institute for Earth Education, Soloway currently splits his time between making his fine art prints, shooting for Tony Stone Images and teaching at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshop three times a year.
Dresser assisted Ansel Adams in the early 1980s and printed off his negatives prior to Adams death. Represented by the Weston Gallery and four other galleries worldwide, he has conducted workshops for the Friends of Photography, the Rod Dresser/Kim Weston Photographic Workshops and the Osaka Institute in Japan.
Lane, a successful commercial, travel and stock photographer, teaches photography for UCLA Extension and has conducted workshops at Palm Beach Photography and Santa Fe Photography workshops. Articles and photographs by Lane have appeared in Petersens Photographic, Outdoor Photographer and Family Photo magazines and her photography and teaching techniques are featured in The Lighting Cookbook by Jenni Bidner.
Lane and Dresser will conduct a lecture/slide presentation on Creative Lighting and Master Printing on Monday, June 7, at 7:30 p.m. in SSU's Fulton Hall Room 111. Both presentations will last approximately 45 minutes.
Curator of photographs at the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution since 1992, Panzer lectures on Wednesday, June 9, at 7:30 p.m. in SSUs Devilbiss Hall Room 149.
Having received her doctorate in American studies from Boston University Panzers recent exhibitions include Halsman: A Retrospective and Mathew Bradys Portraits, the first modern exhibition devoted to the full career of the man who sent photographers to cover the Civil War. In addition Panzer also wrote the accompanying biography, Mathew Brady and the Image of History.
