La Patronal Brings 'Fiestas Populares' to 成人抖阴September 12
SALISBURY, MD---The excitement of “fiestas populares,” the town fairs held in rural villages throughout Latin America, comes to Salisbury University during a concert by the band La Patronal 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.
La Patronal’s members are direct descendants of rural musicians from Peru, combining their knowledge of folk culture and formal music studies to present lively performances with vibrant percussion, brass and winds. Traditional dances and masks add authenticity to the band’s performances, at which dancing and audience participation are encouraged.
The concert is made possible through Southern Exposure: Performing Arts of Latin America, a program of the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
Sponsored by SU’s Cultural Affairs Office, admission is free and the public is invited.
SU’s annual Hispanic Heritage Dinner precedes the show from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in the Commons Bistro. Cost is $14.20, $8.55 for children under 5. The concert and dinner are part of SU’s annual Hispanic Heritage Month festival.
