Arthur Reading at 成人抖阴Inaugurates Salisbury Poetry Week

James ArthurSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Center for Extended and Lifelong Learning (CELL) inaugurates Salisbury Poetry Week with a reading by Fulbright Scholar and poet James Arthur 7 p.m. Friday, March 31, in the Worcester Room of the Commons.

He is joined by several poets from the Eastern Shore, who also read from their works.

Arthur’s poems have appeared in The New Yorker, The New Republic and Poetry, among others. His honors include Princeton University’s Hodder Fellowship, Stanford University’s Stegner Fellowship, the Amy Lowell Travelling Poetry Scholarship and the prestigious Discovery/The Nation Prize. His debut poetry collection, Charms Against Lightning, is available from Copper Canyon Press.

An assistant professor in the Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University’s Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, he also conducts writing workshops and visits local classrooms during the week, March 31-April 6.

Salisbury Poetry Week, held in honor of National Poetry Month, is an initiative of Eastern Shore Voices. Additional events during the week include Kid Voices!, a family friendly, spoken-word event featuring the Fenix Youth Project, American Music Performance Studio (AMP) and Poetry Out Loud!, from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at Headquarters Live in downtown Salisbury.
