Blackwell Library Receives $20,000 Middendorf Grant

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s current art students transform the campus library into a permanent gallery for the community thanks to a $20,000 grant from the Middendorf Foundation.

成人抖阴will use the money to purchase and display works from the University’s most promising art students, creating a permanent exhibit at Blackwell Library.

“Through this initiative, we will establish a place to see the early works of artists who show every indication of going on to distinguish themselves as significant artists,” said Dr. Alice Bahr, dean of libraries.
Stephen Ford, research services librarian and liaison to the Art Department will work with a panel of Art Department faculty to determine qualifying works.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts is one of the fastest growing academic areas at SU. In fall 1996, there were four majors. Some 171 were registered at the beginning of the current academic year, an increase of more than 4,000 percent.  Half of this growth has occurred since 2004.

Based in Baltimore, the Middendorf Foundation supports public non-profit venues including libraries, art galleries, historical societies and hospices.
