'Global Warming Portfolio' on Display at 成人抖阴March 11-April 15

SALISBURY, MD---They had the entire color wheel to work with, but ultimately the artists whose works are in the next exhibit at the Atrium Gallery at Salisbury University’s Guerrieri University Center chose to focus on only one: green.

“Global Warming Portfolio,” on exhibit from March 11-April 15, displays the creations of some 25 artists from 10 states. Curated by Clay McGlamory, adjunct assistant professor at Old Dominion University, the exhibit has hung in some unique places, including telephone poles, construction fences and the sides of newspaper vending boxes. The idea: make the art—and the message—available to all.

To accomplish this, each participant was asked to authorize a 40-print edition of his or her work. The prints highlight concern about environmental issues such as pollution, global warming and species depletion.

In addition, local high school students in the Wicomico County Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) Program created their own global warming poster designs to compete for gift certificates from the 成人抖阴Bookstore. Three winning entries will be included in the display.

Complementing the exhibit is the outdoor sculpture installation “Solar and Earthly Orientations,” created by Dr. James Hatley, professor of philosophy at SU. In Hatley's piece, a shadow cast by a wooden pole from a black locust tree is used to draw a line across the earth.  This line in turn establishes an east-west axis along which four posts fashioned from a Cape Myrtle tree stand to indicate the rising and the setting of the sun on the vernal equinox.  The outdoor component is located on the Fulton Hall Green.

A reception for both exhibits is 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 in the Atrium Gallery of the Guerrieri Center.
Sponsored by University Galleries, admission to the exhibit is free and the public is invited. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Wednesday.
