Henry VIII Expert Speaks on Infamous Ruler October 30

SALISBURY, MD---History has painted King Henry VIII as a tyrant, but what were the circumstances that led him down that path?

Suzannah Lipscomb, research curator of England’s Hampton Court Palace, offers observations on the infamous ruler during her talk, “Prince to Tyrant: What Changed Henry VIII?” 7 p.m. Friday, October 30, in Salisbury University’s Holloway Hall Auditorium.

Her talk includes an analysis of the background of Henry VIII’s reign as well as researched observations on the paradoxical monarch. Drawing on her recently published monograph, 1536: The Year that Changed Henry VIII, Lipscomb reveals the complex man and his struggles.

Lipscomb earned her M.A. and B.A. from Oxford University.  Her position as research curator has allowed her to study the ambience of the Tudor world as few scholars have.

Sponsored by SU’s History Department, Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts, and the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture, admission to her talk is free, and the public is invited.
