Nursing Program's NCLEX Pass Rate Best in State
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University nursing students are tops in the state.
According to the Maryland Board of Nursing, they had the highest pass rate of all baccalaureate programs in Maryland on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for the 2007-08 academic year.
With 95.45 percent of students passing the exam the first time they took it, 成人抖阴surpassed peers including Johns Hopkins and the University of Maryland.
“This is tangible evidence of the strength of Salisbury University’s Nursing Program,” said Dr. Karen L. Olmstead, dean of the Richard A. Henson School of Science and Technology. “I congratulate our faculty and students.”
“You have to pass the exam to be able to practice as a registered nurse and because of the nursing shortage we are trying to help students become registered nurses as expeditiously as possible,” said Dr. Lisa A. Seldomridge, chair of the Department of Nursing.
The statistics represent students in SU’s two undergraduate nursing tracks: traditional first degree students and accelerated second degree students. Some 84 out of 88 passed on the first try.
“We are extremely proud of our students and grateful for the ongoing support of our efforts,” Seldomridge said.
