Poet Nickole Brown Reads at 成人抖阴Thursday, November 8
SALISBURY, MD---Poet Nickole Brown reads from her work as part of Salisbury University’s fall Writers-on-the-Shore series 7 p.m. Thursday, November 8, in the Montgomery Room of the Commons.
Brown is the author of Sister, a collection of poems telling the story of a young woman from her birth to an unwed teen during a tornado to abuse suffered at the hands of her stepfather to her escape as a teenager herself.
Brown also has published a chapbook, mud, and co-edited the anthology Air Fare: Stories, Poems and Essays on Flight. Her work has been featured in journals and publications including The Writer’s Chronicle, Poets & Writers and The Courtland Review.
Earning her M.F.A. in creative writing at Vermont College, she studied English literature at Oxford University as an English-Speaking Union Scholar. A former editorial assistant for Hunter S. Thompson, she has earned grants from the Kentucky Foundation for Women and the Kentucky Arts Council.
Brown has served as publicity consultant for the Palm Beach Poetry Festival and program coordinator of the Union Institute and University writing residency in Slovenia. She also has worked as director of marketing and development for the non-profit literary press Sarbande Books. As an author, she has read at events with Garrison Keillor and Allen Ginsberg, among others.
