成人抖阴Celebrates Homecoming and Family Weekend 2014
SALISBURY, MD---From reunions, to fun activities for parents and students, to a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate a new $19 million Sea Gull Stadium, Salisbury University’s 2014 Homecoming and Family Weekend is packed with excitement.
Events begin Thursday, October 16, with the annual faculty emeriti and retired staff luncheon from noon-2 p.m. in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center. (Admission to the luncheon is by invitation only.)
Activities continue Friday, October 17, with the Maroon & Gold Club’s annual golf tournament, co-sponsored by Chick-fil-A, at 10 a.m. at Nutters Crossing Golf Course. Entry fee is $65 per player, $240 per team. Pre-registration is required.
Members of the Holloway Society, named in memory of Dr. William J. Holloway, SU’s founding president, are recognized during a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. in the Holloway Hall Social Room. Attendance is by invitation only. The Holloway Society recognizes those who have made planned giving provisions of at least $25,000 in their estate plans to benefit the University.
The Residence Hall Association’s annual powder puff football game is 2:30 p.m. on Holloway Hall Lawn. That evening, the 成人抖阴Athletics Hall of Fame inducts five new members during its annual banquet at 6 p.m. in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center. They are: Margaret Medes Frasca (’84 field hockey), Eric Martin IV (’04 men’s lacrosse), Andrew Murray (’04 men’s lacrosse), Darren LaRocque (’02 men’s soccer) and Christine Sliger (’02 women’s lacrosse). Admission is $30, $25 for past inductees. Pre-registration is required.
University Dining Services’ annual “Recipes From Home” dinner is 6:30-8 p.m. in the Commons, featuring winning recipes submitted by parents and family members. Cost is $12, $7.28 for children 5 and under. A free improvisational music comedy show with the group Baby Wants Candy is 7:30 p.m. in Holloway Hall Auditorium.
Saturday events begin with an open house at the Alumni House and Miller Alumni Garden from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and a campus tour at 10 a.m. A Living Learning Communities brunch is 9:30-10:45 a.m. on the Quad.
成人抖阴breaks ground on the new $19 million Sea Gull Stadium during a festive ceremony at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Student Government Association (SGA)-sponsored campus parade at 11 a.m. on Wayne Street.
Events continue at the stadium at 11 a.m. with the 成人抖阴Alumni Association’s annual pre-game barbecue, serving as a reunion for the classes of 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 2004 and 2009. Music is provided by Beauty for Ashes, and children’s games and activities are available. Admission is $15, $5 for children 10 and under. Those registering for the barbecue on the day of the event must purchase football tickets separately.
The SGA hosts a block party, with inflatables provided by the Student Organization for Activity Planning (SOAP), beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Intramural Fields. The Sea Gulls host Hartwick College (NY) during this year’s Homecoming and Family Weekend football game at 1 p.m. Admission is $5, $3 for alumni and non-成人抖阴students, $2 for children 12 and under. 成人抖阴ID holders receive one ticket free. The 成人抖阴Pep Band plays during the game.
The Student Affairs Office hosts a post-game ice cream social from 3-4:30 p.m. on Henson Hall Lawn (rain location: Perdue Hall Atrium). The Untouchables Dance Club performs in Henson Science Hall Plaza at 4:30 p.m. as sports fans make their way back to main campus from the game.
The Multicultural Student Services Office hosts a post-game alumni jazz social in the Gull’s Nest of the Guerrieri University Center from 4:30-6:30 p.m., featuring GSWAGG Band and Show.
A luncheon for alumni graduating prior to 1970 is 11 a.m. in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center. The class of 1964 is honored on its 50th anniversary. Admission is $20, free for Class of ’64 members, and pre-registration is required. The classes of 1929, 1934, 1939, 1944, 1949, 1954, 1959 and 1969 will be recognized, as well.
A Homecoming step show, featuring SU’s fraternities and sororities, is 7 p.m. in Holloway Hall Auditorium. Tickets, available in advance at the Guerrieri University Center Information Desk, are $10, $8 for 成人抖阴students, faculty and staff.
On Sunday, October 19, the Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) sorority honors SU’s Black Greek fraternities and sororities with a breakfast from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Wicomico Room of the Commons. Special tribute is paid to the seven women representing AKA’s inaugural 成人抖阴membership in 1989. Cost is $15, and pre-registration is required. A portion of the proceeds benefits AKA’s breast cancer benefit show, scheduled Saturday, November 15, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.
Homecoming and Family Weekend events end with a brunch featuring Slim DeNunn and the High Rollers from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Commons. Cost is $9.63, $4.94 for children 5 and under.

The Bobbi Biron Theatre Program presents Shakespeare’s King Lear, directed by and featuring Dr. T. Paul Pfeiffer, chair of SU’s Theatre and Dance Department, in the Black Box Theatre of Fulton Hall.
