成人抖阴Commemorates Disability History and Awareness Month in October
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University commemorates Disability History and Awareness Month with a series of October events ranging from discussions to a film screening.
Throughout the month, 成人抖阴hosts a canned food drive for the Malcolm Grow Medical Center's Fisher House Foundation at Andrews Air Force Base. Annually, Fisher House programs serve more than 12,000 military families by enabling them to stay close to the facilities where their loved ones are hospitalized. Campus collection locations include Blackwell Library; the Education Department offices in the Teacher Education and Technology Center; the Lobbies of Fulton, Henson, Holloway and Perdue halls and the commons; and the Center for Student Achievement, Counseling Center, Student Activities Office and Student Disability Support Services Office in the Guerrieri University Center.
A therapeutic horse exhibit scheduled Wednesday, October 19, has been canceled due to inclement weather.
The film Emmanuel’s Gift is screened at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, October 20. The movie showcases Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah, a young man from Ghana who was born with a severe physical disability and has set out to change his community’s perception of what “being disabled” means by pedaling a bike across his country.
Veterans Administration (VA) social worker Cicely Burrows-McElwain facilitates the panel discussion “Wounded Warriors” on Monday, October 24. Military service members and VA healthcare providers share their experiences from 3-4 p.m. in the Pocomoke Room of the Guerrieri University Center.
Art therapist Amy Isaacs conducts an art therapy workshop from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, October 25. The event explores the therapeutic use of visual fine art materials and image-making to increase self-awareness and self-expression, and to herald and support change. The location will be announced.
