成人抖阴Honors Convocation Recognizes 2,000 Scholars, Student Leaders

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University honors some 2,000 outstanding scholars and student leaders at its 82nd annual Spring Honors Convocation 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.

Recognizing achievement in all areas of academic life, some 170 departmental awards, scholarships and other honors will be given.  Along with the Board of Regents Outstanding Student Award winner, others acknowledged for their academic success include Dean’s List students, honor society inductees and Presidential Citizen Scholars.

New awards include the Whall Honors Award for Writing Excellence, for distinguished first-year Honors students, and the Bruce Cort Scholarship, which is given to freshmen chemistry majors with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Dr. Raymond “Tony” Whall, a longtime professor in the English Department, founded SU’s Honors Program.  Bruce Cort, a 1971 alumnus of 成人抖阴and a history major, is a member of the 成人抖阴Foundation Board.

For the first time, the Trinity Transport Scholarship will also be awarded to a junior in the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business who has a GPA of 3.3 or higher.  The winner will also intern for the Delaware-based company during his or her junior year and the following summer.

The colorful ritual includes the procession of faculty in full regalia, the pomp and circumstance of the University mace and flag and music by the 成人抖阴Chorale and Chamber Choir. The ceremony is a tradition which dates back to the founding of the University in 1925.
