Wrightson Demonstrates Tibetan Singing Bowls February 8

SALISBURY, MD---The beautiful tones of Tibetan singing bowls have been used throughout centuries for meditation and sacred ceremony.  Lainie Wrightson, an international feng shui practitioner based in Easton, MD, demonstrates playing these extraordinary musical instruments 7 p.m. Thursday, February 8, in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall.

Listening to the bowls is sometimes described as sound massage, said Wrightson, whose passionate interest quickly developed after she first heard them. “A lot of people can go quickly into a meditative state because of their sound,” she said. “You can also feel a distinct change in the energy of a room.”

Wrightson will demonstrate Tibetan and crystal singing bowls, which she uses with clients and in her personal practice.  The instruments are played by striking or rubbing the rim with a mallet.

Crystal bowls have been found in Egyptian pyramids, while the metal Tibetan bowls are found in Tibet, Nepal, India, Bhutan, China, Japan and Korea.  Traditionally, singing bowls were used by Buddhist monks and lay people. Today, they are enjoyed around the world by meditators, health professionals and others who enjoy the beautiful sound.

Sponsored by the Office of Cultural Affairs, this event is free and the public is invited.  For more information call 410-219-2872 or visit the 成人抖阴Web site at www.salisbury.edu. Wrightson may be reached at lainie@anahatafengshui.com.
