Paintings By Eli Thomas Hang in the Bistro November 8-30

SALISBURY, MD---Eli Thomas, Wolf Clan member of the Onondaga nation and renowned artist, has works featured in the private collections of President Jimmy Carter and country singer Shania Twain. November 8-30, Salisbury University features his work in the Bistro at the Commons. Thomas’ scenes are predominantly landscapes, which incorporate subtle images and symbolism from Onondaga beliefs and teachings. The most prevalent symbol in his work is the wolf, which he associates with his clan. Recurring themes in his art include: appreciation, giving thanks, seeking peace and showing respect for all living things. Thomas studied fine arts at the State University of New York (SUNY) Potsdam and studio art at SUNY Buffalo. Drawing from his training and experience as an artist, Thomas uses his insights to work with children of all ages on art projects and to teach them artistic expression while sharing his beliefs in a visual narrative through lectures, demonstrations and workshops. He travels frequently for shows in a number of countries such as Canada, Japan, Germany and England. The exhibition is sponsored by the Office of Cultural Affairs. Bistro hours are from 7:15 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:15 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission to the exhibit is included with a meal in the Bistro and the public is invited. The prices are: $5.25 for breakfast (age 12 and over), $7.25 for lunch and $8.95 for dinner. Prices for children 6-12 are $2.70 for breakfast, $3.75 for lunch and $5.50 for dinner. Children 5 and under eat free.
